The equation begins with a sovereign hand. Two polar opposites. 5 kids. A small house in a small Midwest city. A story to tell.
Tragedy invaded our quiet life in June 2014. The sort of tragedy that instantly changes everything…
We were like Christian in John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress, standing at the bottom of Hill Difficulty. Danger and Destruction were on either side of us. The right way was up. The good way was difficult.
Climbing the hill was for the better.
The only way to recover was to go straight into it. We knew that. And so we began a journey that neither of us ever imagined we’d be traveling…
We have a story to tell. Welcome.
This hill, though high, I covet to ascend;
The difficulty will not me offend,
For I perceive the way to life lies here:
Come, pluck up, heart, let’s neither faint nor fear!
Better, though difficult, the right way to go,
Than wrong, though easy, where the end is woe.
Christian, from John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress
